Cafe Italia is Italian, Francesco has been open 20 years, Valerie recently changed a couple of things. It still seats 50, but the tables are linen covered. The walls were painted; the same color.. Contemporary round chandeliers added. There is an old table added on one corner wall, it has Lapis old family photographs.
Now, I am an early bird, Francesco still greets you at the door. I ordered antipasti, eggplant parmesan to go, box it and don’t bring it to the table. I ordered a glass of their house red, the pasta lineup is classic. Last night I had: Zuppa de Pesce over linguine. That’s clams, mushrooms, onions, shrimp, fish. My son, Michael had a beer, one of the 15 lasagna’s. The bread comes from Gran Forno Bakery. The bakery owner is a regular at the cafe. My son ate the whole loaf of bread. He ordered another beer, but had to ask for a box for the balance of his lasagna.
No box for me, but , I did have a slice of tiramisu, a check, and another glass of red.
